Here at GPC, our Youth & College Ministry is filled with students who are just crazy enough to believe that they can change the world. We know that whatever grade they’re in this year—middle school, high school, or college—God has big plans for them! Students who call GPC home are asked to get involved in everything that we do—serving our community, leading in worship, and helping lead in our ministry groups. Our GPC students make a BIG IMPACT.
They’re not just going to make an impact.
They’re making a difference right now!
We believe that the present generation of students has the potential to be used by God in a way that surpasses every other generation in history.
We’re a grace-based, non-judgmental, diverse group of people doing our best to walk alongside and partner with preteens, teens, college students, and their families as they navigate this thing called life. We are:
OUR YOUTH EVENTS ARE OPEN TO ALL 6TH GRADERS THROUGH HIGH SCHOOL SENIORS. TO RECEIVE A DETAILED CALENDAR OF EVENTS FOR EITHER YOUTH OR COLLEGE STUDENTS, TO BE ADDED TO THE EMAIL LIST, OR TO ASK QUESTIONS, CONTACT CARRIE LARSEN (WHO COORDINATES BOTH PROGRAMS).
Wednesday Night Youth Thing (WNYT) is a thing and meets every Wednesday from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. in Spencer Hall. WNYT is a night to build strong friendships, laugh together, and explore and ask questions about faith. Our Wednesday nights are filled with games, discussion, and SNACKS. Who doesn’t love good snacks? Youth may enter from the side door at the north parking lot end of the church.
Our College Students find time to hang together on Thursday nights for a Bible Study. We meet at various locations in Gaithersburg and Frederick, depending on the need for coffee, dessert, or diving into some good food.
On Sunday mornings at 11:00 a.m., they begin worship by sitting with their families or together as a group in the Sanctuary. They’re dismissed prior to the sermon to attend our Sunday Morning Youth Group (SMYG) gathering in Spencer Hall, on the lower level of the church. They meet until 12:00 Noon and then connect with their families for fellowship time in Lindsay Hall, back on the upper level of the church.
Contact Carrie Larsen by email to register.
Every fall, middle school and high school students spend time escaping from life as usual by attending a retreat. Our retreats are a time to connect with one another and with Jesus. In the quiet of nature, we try to practice Sabbath. We find that by slowing down we are better able to hear the voice of God. Of course, we also make some amazing memories that we never forget! Youth are encouraged to attend our week-long summer camps, which are designed to amplify the call of Christ on students’ lives to become Kingdom Workers in their community.
We believe that Jesus invites us to join in His mission. He tells us that what we do to the least of these, we have done to Him. By helping others, we encounter Jesus in others and allow them to see Him in us. We invite all students—regardless of whether or not they are involved in other parts of our ministry—to join us in serving our local community throughout the year as well as on several special trips to other countries. We’ve enjoyed serving in Guatemala, Belize, and, most recently, Costa Rica. Where is God calling you to serve?
