hybrid, studying the “Spring Curriculum”
The Present Word in an in-depth study of the Bible over a six-year period, focusing on a specific theme each quarter. It is designed by an ecumenical collaborative so the participants in multiple denominations are studying the same passages together, the goals of The Present Word are to engage in a serious study of Scripture in order to discover its deeper meaning and how it is relevant to our world today.
Feasting on the Word follows the Revised Common Lectionary… it invites people into the rhythm of the church year…it explores the what, where, so what and now what of each biblical passage through a variety of learning and teaching styles.

Men’s Breakfast Group – not just for men anymore! The hosts of this group invite men and women of all ages to a light, continental breakfast the first Saturday of the month at 8:00 a.m. in Lindsay Hall. Conversation, prayer, and a speaker are also on the menu. During the three summer months, the group meets for breakfast and fellowship at Café Sophie in the Gaithersburg Airpark. Each person pays for his or her own breakfast.
CWF, the most colorful and exuberant group at GPC, frequently assists in leading worship. Originally composed of members from Cameroon, the group is now open to all women in the church. Join them each Sunday after the 11:00 a.m. worship service for study, fellowship, and singing. You will be blessed!
Join the VIPS for lunch and a program the first Thursday of the month. Gathering begins at 11:30, with the program starting at noon. Field trips to local areas of interest are offered from time to time, in addition to their monthly meetings.
Other than Sunday morning worship, VIPS meetings are the largest and most welcoming gatherings in the church. VIPS excel in maintaining contact with and caring for one another, are creative in the variety of programs and outings offered, and enjoy a “favorite people” status with members of the Youth Group. The VIPS are also the most outreach-oriented and service-minded group in the church, second only to the Community Engagement ministry, making consistent, generous donations to the various missions of GPC.

This group meets in Lindsay Hall the first Sunday of the month after the 11:00 a.m. service. Although they may choose to work on personal craft projects or knit, many continue to make prayer shawls and prayer squares for Holy Cross Germantown Hospital, the Equity Center, and JSSA (patterns for both are available). Bring a bag lunch and enjoy this productive time of fellowship!
